Ban on pillion riding lifted across Sindh

The Sindh government has lifted the ban on pillion riding and rallies across Sindh.

“The ban imposed for ten days on pillion riding, rallies and gathering of four persons has been withdrawn with immediate effect,” read a notification issued by the provincial home department on Saturday.

The decision was taken in the wake of protests and rioting after a Supreme Court verdict acquitted Asia Bibi, a Christian woman who had been on death row in a blasphemy case. After three days of protests, the demonstrators ended their sit-ins after reaching an agreement with the government over the matter.
