Matrix 4 Gets 2021 release date on same opening weekend as John Wick 4

A lot of hype is surrounding the fourth instalment to The Matrix franchise ever since the project was announced earlier this year. What happens to Neo? Is he still alive? What’s the go with the Matrix?

Well, all those questions will be answered eventually but don’t hold your breath because the release date the film has just been released.

Fourth film in the series is expected to release on May 21 in 2021. If you’re not just a supporter of The Matrix but more of a Keanu Reeves Stan then you’ll be doubly excited because the film will drop on the same weekend as John Wick 4.

This will be the first movie in the Matrix universe for 16 years. The previous three films – The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions – took in more than $1.6 billion globally at the box office.

Lana Wachowski will return to write, direct and produce this latest effort, and recently received praise from Toby Emmerich, the chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group

He said: “We could not be more excited to be re-entering The Matrix with Lana,

“Lana is a true visionary – a singular and original creative filmmaker – and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in the Matrix universe.”

Wachowski added: “Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now.

“I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”
