No heroine for Abhishek Bachchan in Anurag Basu’s film

Anurag Basu’s next directorial venture, which is produced by Bhushan Kumar, went on floors last month. The anthology, which comprises four stories, boasts of an ensemble cast including Saif Ali Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Aditya Roy Kapur. The filming kick-started with AB Junior’s story

However, seems like the story with Abhishek as the protagonist won’t have a female lead opposite him. A source revealed, “Abhishek doesn’t have a heroine opposite him in the film. In fact, his is the only segment in the anthology that doesn’t have a romantic angle. He has shot some portions in Kolkata and will resume work now that he’s back from his holiday to Goa with wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya.” Revealing about Bachchan’s role, the source added, “He plays a local goon. Hence, he has this look throughout the film. The plot revolves around his backstory, which is quite emotional.”

The source also stated that Anurag will shoot with others when they have time. “Starting with Abhishek was easier because he didn’t have a co-star. As for Saif, Rajkummar and Aditya, they have committed their dates to other projects. So, whenever they have time off, Anurag plans to shoot their portions,” the source revealed.

Meanwhile, Abhishek will be working with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in a film titled Gulab Jamun. The husband-wife duo will be seen on screen together after a gap of 8 years. They last worked together in Mani Ratnam’s Raavan (2010). The shooting of Gulab Jamun will begin from next year. It will be helmed by Sarvesh Mewara.
