There is no honour in “Honour killings”

Since the birth of Pakistan, the women living in this country have been burdened with cultural and social norms. They have always had restrictions. Most of the times, violence is used as a tool to ‘control’ them. I fail to understand that why does the society believe that a woman represents a man’s honour? why do the men think that they have the authority to “punish” women if they think their acts are unacceptable for them?  Why is this murder in the name of honor considered as act of bravery?

Honour killing is present in many areas of Pakistan. However, due to improved education system especially in Punjab and Sindh, the mindset of people is changing a bit. the authorities should take action against such people and there should be several awareness campaigns held for women so that they should know their rights.
