5 Pakistani celebrities who left the industry for ‘spiritual reasons’ at peak of their careers

Here is a list of celebrities who left showbiz at the height of their careers for Islam.

  1. Junaid Jamshed

Junaid Jamshed was a Pakistani singer turned preacher. He first gained recognition in 1987 as the lead singer of the famous band Vital Signs with the song “Dil Dil Pakistan.”

Jamshed formally gave up music in 2004 and dedicated his life to the service of Islam. He gave up his music career but devoted his mellifluous voice to Naats and Hamds and eventually became a religious scholar.

He died on the 7th of December 2016 when the PIA Flight 661 crashed in Havelian.

  1. Sara Chaudhry

Sara Chaudhry started her acting career in 2001 and rose to popularity at the very young age of 14. She was famous for TV shows Teray Jaane Ke Baad and Dil Diya Dehleez, amongst others.

She worked in showbiz for nearly 11 years but surprised everyone when she left the industry at the height of her career.

  1. Hamza Ali Abbas

The former film and television actor, Hamza Ali Abbasi, announced his decision to quit acting in November 2019. He said that he desires to spend his life spreading the message of Islam.

His last two films Jawani Phir Nahi Ani and Parvaz Hai Junoon were box office hits.

  1. Feroze Khan

Recently one of the most successful actors of Pakistan, Feroze Khan, quit the entertainment industry. He tweeted, “My fans have been waiting for my statement. I announce that I have left showbiz and will only work and provide my services for the teaching of Islam through this platform if required.”

  1. Noor Bukhari

Noor Bukhari emerged as a leading actress in the early 2000s after starring in the film Mujhe Chand Chahiye opposite Shaan Shahid. She bagged prominent roles in many pictures over the years. Above all, when she decided to quit showbiz, Noor was enjoying tremendous popularity as a morning show host.

However, the 38- year-old astonished fans and confirmed that she no longer intends to do any films or TV shows in the future.

Speaking to a local news outlet, the former actress said, “I truly believe that you do not choose to be close to Allah but that He chooses you. I am grateful I was chosen.”
