“Not playing in the Word Cup 2011 Semi Final is one of the biggest regrets of my life,” Shoaib Akhtar!

Perhaps Pakistan just got unlucky or it wasn’t a day for the men in Green. Pakistan, versus the arch rival India, got down into the field to play the semi-final of the World Cup on 30th March 2011. The team had been in great form and Pakistanis had a lot of hope. Shahid Afridi had been an examplry captain that season. But things didn’t turn out in Pakistan’s favor that day. The team played below average and India won the semi final.

And today, some 9 years after the uneventful day, Shoaib Akhtar still regrets not playing in the match. The revelation came after Akhtar held a one on one session with his fans on Twitter. Amongst a number of other revelations, Akhtar answered a fans question with not playing in the 2011 World Cup semi final as one of the biggest regret of his life.

However, along a number of other things, Shoaib Akhtar also shared how he didn’t see any current bowler capable of breaking his fastest ball delivery record as yet.

Akhtar also shared that he prayed Pakistan would find a fast bowler as good as him. He also added that Babar Azam was one of his favorite cricketers from the current lot in Pakistan and that he would be supporting Lahore Qalandars come PSL.
