Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with traditional and religious fervour across Pakistan today.
Eid prayers were offered at mosques and Eidgahs in all cities and towns of the country. Special prayers were offered for the well-being of the country while in sermons the Ulema will highlight the significance of Eid-ul-Fitr.
In the federal capital, the main Eid congregation was held at the Faisal Mosque where top government officials and envoys of Muslim countries offered Eid prayers along with others.
President Arif Alvi offered prayers at Faisal Mosque.
Karachi
In Karachi, the main Eid congregation was held at Gulshan-e-Jinnah where Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, federal and provincial Ministers offered prayers.
Lahore
Punjab Chief Minister offered prayers in Lahore.
In Punjab, the main congregation was held at Badshahi Mosque, which was attended by Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar.
Quetta
More than 180 Eid prayer’s congregations were held in Balochistan.
Balochistan Governor Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Chief Minister Mir Jam Kamal Khan offered Eid prayers in Quetta.
Peshawar
Eid-ul-Fitr is also being celebrated in most areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today.
The main congregation was in Peshawar was held at Eidgah Charsadda Road.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman offered Eid prayers at Governor House while Chief Minister Mahmood Khan offered Eid prayers at his native town in Matta in Swat.
President, prime minister extend Eid greetings
President Arif Alvi in his message urged the nation to adopt fraternity and compassion in their ranks and work for the progress and prosperity of the country by rising above personal, regional and sectarian biases.
Prime Minister Imran Khan in his message said one could enjoy the real festivities of Eid by showing compassion to and share pleasures with the deserving people.
He added the government has embarked upon the journey to put the country on track of progress and prosperity.
The prime minister further said the State of Medina had become a model in the human history that had won laurels for contributing to human welfare.
COAS extends Eid greetings
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa also extended his greetings to fellow Pakistanis on Eid-ul-Fitr.
“Eid Mubarak with prayers for peace, progress and prosperity of Pakistan. Aamen,” the army chief was quoted as saying by Major General Asif Ghafoor, director general (DG) of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The DG ISPR also wished a happy Eid to the nation on behalf of the armed forces of Pakistan.
