Pakistan declared ‘Family Station’ for UN’s foreign staff

The United Nations has declared Pakistan ‘Family Station’ for its international staff with effect from June 14, in a visible indication of the improved security situation of the country.

The International Civil Service Commission of the UN forwarded a letter to Pakistan’s Permanent Ambassador to UN, Maleeha Lodhi in this regard.

This is a positive development on which we all worked together, Lodhi said in a tweet.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also hailed the decision on Twitter.

The decision is based on the recommendation by the Under Secretary-General of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security which evaluated the security situation in Islamabad and discontinued the non-family status of the duty station.
