Disney smashes its own global box office record

After back to hits and box office records looks like 2019 is Disney’s year. Crossing the all-time record for global ticket sales for a single studio Disney hit yet again a box office milestone.

Disney dethroned itself smashing the benchmark previously set in 2016 with $7.61 billion, the company has surpassed $7.67 billion worldwide in 2019.

Disney became the first studio to hit the $5 billion mark overseas with an estimated $5.09 billion to date.

To be noted is that, Disney still have major releases to come in following months “Frozen 2,” a “Maleficent” sequel and “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” on deck.

The studio house already upholds the top six biggest films of the year globally with “Avengers: Endgame” $2.79 billion, “Captain Marvel” $1.1 billion, “Aladdin” $1 billion, “The Lion King” $962 million and “Toy Story 4” $917 million. Three of its movies have already crossed $1 billion at the worldwide box office, and “The Lion King” and “Toy Story 4” are expected to cross that threshold soon.

Disney now owns over 40% of the domestic market share, double its closest competitors, Warner Bros. and Universal, each holding 13% share.

Looks like no can stop Disney from being the box office true king.
