Brad Pitt is starring in a film about space and masculinity

A Sci fi drama, Ad Astra about space is coming and it stars Brad Pitt who is an astronaut, Roy McBride. He goes to space to find his missing father, who was also an astronaut. The film focuses on the father-son relationship. Another reason of his traveling to outer space is that he wants to solve the mystery about what is threatening the earth.

The film is produced by James Gray who is popular for his films like We own the night, The immigrant and his last release was The lost city of Z.

At the Venice Film Festival, Ad Astra had its world premiere. Brad Pitt and the producer James Gray said that Sci-fi drama is a personal one and it is going to unravel the modern concept of “masculinity”.

Brad Pitt along with his producer and co-star Liv Tyler, said, “We’ve experienced childhood in a period where we were approached to be solid… and there is an incentive in that, yet [also a] boundary since you’re concealing a portion of those things you feel embarrassed about. We as a whole cover up and convey individual torment and wounds.”

“What question we were asking was that is there a better definition of masculinity for us is to have a more stable relationship with our loved ones, kids and ourselves?”

Further, Brad Pitt said that they were pretty open about their feelings as they both did not have “normal male relationship”.

In Ad Astra, Brad Pitt is seem to be together with other characters not like we see him in other movies. Brad Pitt, who is also a producer in this film expressed that this character, Roy McBride was one of the hardest role he had to play as the character shows detachment from his loved ones.

The film is set to be released on September 20, 2019.
