IPhone 5 users at risk of losing internet access

Apple iPhone 5 users have been warned to update their software before the weekend or face losing access to the internet. The technology giant said users who did not download iOS 10.3.4 by 3 November would be locked out of features that rely on the correct time and date.

This includes the App Store, email, web browsing and storage service iCloud. While it is not the latest version of the operating system, it is the most up-to-date available for the model. Users of older iPhones have also been advised to update their software in order to maintain accurate GPS location services.

Apple iPhone 5 was released back in September 2012 and we’ll hardly see anyone using the seven-year-old device. But it turns out, there are a few who are still stuck on the iPhone 5 model and Apple has just started sending out an important warning on their phones.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple is sending out a tall full-screen message to iPhone 5 users asking them to update their devices to iOS 10.3.4 version before November 3, 2019. Apple further warns that if they fail to do so in time, they are set to lose internet connectivity on their devices. Post-November 3, they won’t be able to access the internet in its entirety, which means no browsing in Safari, emails, iCloud, or even Apple store services.
