Entry of private vehicles to Tarbela dam banned

HARIPUR: The Tarbela Dam administration has banned entry of private and public vehicles from Peshawar, Abbottabad and Rawalpindi until further notice.

The Tarbela Dam Civil Chief Engineer Badruddin Solangi presided over an emergency meeting held to discuss the situation in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The meeting also decided to ban entry of private patients to the Tarbel Hospital.

It was decided in the meeting that suspected coronavirus patients would be referred to Rawalpindi or the federal capital for treatment. Bus service from Tarbela to different areas has been shut and also families would not be allowed to travel in the Tarbela dam’s buses. Entry of pensioners into the Tarbela residential area or its various sites has been banned too.

Visitors’ entry into facilities across the lake has been banned while wedding halls have also been closed. Social gatherings and WAPDA Officers Club And Community Centres would remain closed until further directives. All play grounds have also been closed until further orders and while the wedding ceremonies booked by the wedding halls have also been cancelled. The Tarbela Circle in-charge, sections in-charge, senior officials attended the meeting.
