Making the Most of Yaum-e-Pakistan

Yaum-e-Pakistan AKA Republic Day, is a national holiday in Pakistan usually marked with a Republic Day parade by the armed forces, as part of the celebrations.

This year however we are too preoccupied with a global pandemic looming over our heads. One that has already claimed thousands of lives and is expected to take more. Every day we turn on the television hoping to hear some good news, but all we see is Corona Virus plaguing our lives.

We at FHM Pakistan feel, though, that we must take this opportunity and spend this year’s Pakistan Day, praying for those who are swimming through murky waters, those who are infected, those who are deprived, those who cannot feed their families and those who are working tirelessly to protect us at our borders and within our cities and towns.

Now is the time to collectively pray for our brothers and sisters all over the world, to remain secure and healthy, for the entire world to band together in spirit and help those around us who are less fortunate. There are many people who are already working towards this goal, must we not join them and do everything we can to help?

#GreenPakistani has been working tirelessly to make Pakistan’s cities greener, so as to keep mother-nature alive around us. They plant trees all over the city, hoping that the inhabitants will step up and help keep them around. Help them. Help yourselves.

We don’t even need to join them, but we can do our bit individually, as we see fit. Plant trees, feed the poor and treat animals with kindness, as we must treat our neighbours.

Honour your country on this auspicious day, with your gratitude and your kindness towards each other, with your responsibility, as individual citizens.

During this difficult time, we cannot leave our houses, but we can sure feed stray animals that come seeking refuge.

We cannot venture out in groups to support each other in person; we must do so in spirit.

We cannot roam the streets to plant trees along them, so we must be a #GreenPakistani within our homes.

Stay safe, stay home, be kind, be compassionate!
