Bilawal warns to overthrow govt for revoking 18th amendment

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari warned on Thursday that the Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government would be overthrown if the much-debated 18th Amendment was rolled back or efforts were made to impose a One Unit system in the country.

Bilawal addressed a mammoth gathering on the 40th death anniversary of party founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto at Garhi Khuda Baksh and fired a broadside at the ruling regime.

The PPP chairman lamented that the hopes of the people of Pakistan were murdered on this day as the man behind the Constitution of Pakistan was murdered.

Bilawal also questioned why the man who secured recovery of prisoners of war and made the country a nuclear power, was murdered in a reference to former premier Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

“Asif Ali Zardari requested the court eight years ago to provide an explanation of Bhutto’s execution,” the PPP chairman said and added that this day is asking when Peoples Party will be served justice.

Bilawal also took aim at Prime Minister Imran Khan for having reportedly said that he did not need Sindh.

“Khan comes to Ghotki, enjoys Sindh’s hospitality and then says he does not need the province. Who are you puppet? Sindh does not need you,” he observed in blunt remarks before a jeering crowd.

‘Our ideology has not changed, your narrative has,’ Bilawal observed while addressing the premier.

The PPP leader expressed that due to Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Pakistan was able to confront India and cited the statement of ZA Bhutto that we [Pakistanis] will eat grass but will save the nuclear program.

Bilawal Bhutto also slammed the ongoing accountability process in the country and equated it with political engineering.

‘This is not accountability, this is political victimization and character assassination,’ Bilawal opined and added that allegations were hurled against him ever since he was one.
