Great News for Students of O/A level in Pakistan!

Amid the pandemic, the Cambridge International had cancelled its May/June 2020 series worldwide with the declaration to award certificates without exams.

The CAIE charted a four-step assessment mechanism which comprised of teachers’ predicted grades, ranking order, school review/approval and standardization. Nonetheless, after the results were announced, students raised apprehensions as they got grades against their expectations and previous performance.

Shafqat Mahmood, the Federal Minister for Education stated this Tuesday that the government’s labors concerning the grading of recently declared Cambridge International results for O’ and A’ Levels have proven fruitful.

“Great news! Our tireless effort has been successful,” declared the education minister on social media after an uproar from Pakistani pupils who felt they were unethically graded.

“Cambridge has decided that grades for June 2020 would not be less than predicted grades sent by schools. Plus where a grade issued last week was higher than the predicted grade, the higher grade will stand.”

The education minister had said on Friday that as a result of the government’s intrusion the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) has decided to review its grading method regarding the recently declared marks.

He added that the Cambridge International will reveal its final verdict on the matter after evaluation on Tuesday.
