A video of a madrassa teacher from Karachi, Pakistan, went viral on August 21, where he was seen violently thrashing a young girl. Once the video clip caused outrage online, Sindh police reportedly took action.

As seen in the video, the barbaric man (wouldn’t call him a teacher as it is an insult to the occupation) was beating the young girl with a stick like object in a room filled with many other young girls, causing the child to scream in agony and attempt to shield herself. As the cameraperson approached the scene, the man stopped for fear of getting caught (too little too late).
The clip sparked outrage on Twitter as many netizens demanded that action be taken against the culprit.
Tweep @MirPAK5 shared the video and wrote:
“Ahmad Saeed tortures innocent children in madrasa. Khalid Bin Waleed, Orangi Town, Mominabad Zia Colony. When the father complained, the father of the children was beaten by all the [teachers] in the mosque […] Mominabad police station refuses to take action.”
To be quite honest, we have become so desensitized by this kind of behavior in our society because it is so prevalent. The constant exposure to something, no matter how brutal, is likely to have that effect.
But it is a vicious cycle I believe, people share these incidents to ensure that justice is served and people become more aware of the atrocities that occur in our society, but too much exposure ends up in people ceasing to react to it any longer.
We must realize that these things are happening behind closed doors and just because we see them so much on social media does not mean we must learn to ignore it, but that we must take action against this kind of cruelty. Children are very sensitive, and every experience they go through at a tender age stays with them for the rest of their lives… and then we wonder why our newer generation doesn’t want to be inclined towards religion!? PSSH!
This is how we desensitize them, causing them to grow into violent and indifferent human beings or so damaged by the association they have with learning about religion that they want nothing to do with it. We are raising a generation of indifferent people which I KNOW can’t be good for any society.
Raise your voice against this brutality, for if we don’t do it now, it might be too late when we do.
