Tom Cruise will be in Cannes for the premiere of ‘Top Gun’

Tom Cruise will attend the Cannes Film Festival in May for the long-awaited international debut of the “Top Gun” sequel, according to the festival’s organisers.

At a press conference in Paris, festival director Thierry Fremaux announced that “Top Gun: Maverick” will screen outside of competition on May 18.

The film was set to debut in 2020, but has been continually postponed because to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It takes up 30 years after the events of the 1986 blockbuster original with Maverick and his fighter pilot pals.

Despite his career being cut short due to throat cancer that has damaged his voice, Val Kilmer is ready to reprise his role as Iceman.

Since “Far and Away,” Cruise hasn’t been to Cannes in three decades.
