Karachi – A beta-global city which was once the capital of Pakistan is now ignored and has become one of the most polluted cities in the world.
Karachi is Pakistan’s premier industrial and financial center which submits 70-80% of the taxes to the federation and is the largest city in Pakistan and the seventh-largest city in the world.
The beautiful city of Karachi has been on the verge of denial for a few decades, as we have been hearing about the transformation plans of the city of lights many times. But there is not even a single step taken towards it, but merely just political statements being made by the elected politicians during election time in the country.
Due to this ongoing trauma, many Karachites have been facing mental stress and have committed suicide due to many factors that directly affect their household work and businesses.
It is sad to see that the voice of Karachiites is ignored and not even the basic infrastructures are restored so thinking about new plans or infrastructural work in the economic hub city ‘Karachi’ is not even possible.
Pollution – Widespread Environmental Hazard
The air of Karachi is highly polluted due to automobiles smoke emitted by rickshaws, cars, bikes, buses, other vehicles, burning of garbage, oven fires, and industrial emissions. Marine pollution is also a major issue in Karachi. Air pollution, lack of proper waste management infrastructure, and degradation of water bodies are the major environmental issues in Karachi.
Rigid Transportation
Karachi crowns itself in having the worst public transport system globally. Relying on decades-old, overcrowded buses that use the roof as a second deck for passengers at times has caused people a lot of stress and time-taking. As Karachi roads are filled with potholes everywhere and not having automated traffic signals.
Dredging Sewerage System
Karachi roads and streets are filled with sewage water which has damaged the infrastructure and continues to cause a traffic gridlock on almost all the main arteries of the city.
The two core reasons for the accumulation of sewerage water on the roads are due to a deteriorated sewerage infrastructure and blockage of sewerage lines by cloth, bags of sand, and solid bricks.
