You must have heard a lot about proteins, from your parents, doctors, gym buddies, basically everyone. There’s always an emphasis on protein diet. Protein is an important nutrient that has critical roles in the human body.

Some of the many functions of protein are listed below:

Protein plays a vital role for building, maintaining and repairing the body tissue. Hair, skin, eyes, muscles and other organs are all made from protein. Children need more protein per pound of body weight than the adults because they are growing new tissues made from protein. Protein is a major source of energy and if you consume enough protein than you need for your body maintenance and other necessary functions, it can be used for energy and if it is not needed for energy, it would be converted to fat and stored on the body.

Some protein enriched foods that you can consume in your daily life are, Eggs, Almonds, Chicken breast, Cottin cheese, Greek Yoghurt, Lentils, Milk, Beef, Fish, Peanuts and Peanut butter.
