Through The Lens

A not-for-profit friend is better than a not-for-profit organization! BY: Erum Masood

We at PINE Global community believe that sometimes it is better to show and speak louder than actions because by doing good for others we usually end up doing better for ourselves.

The people of Pakistan face a new challenge every day but the 2022 Floods were just not a challenge for the people but the world and beyond!

This time it was just not the property, food, and money or their loved ones, but most importantly it was the HOPE that the people lost sadly in the rulers of this country and the political leaders who had drowned the desires of many. The flood-affected victims in South Balochistan and Sindh cried, for one thing, and that was to stop the REELS we are here for REAL!

My regular trip to Balochistan and Sindh made me feel realize that I have to do something but how to start was my question. So one fine morning in my morning briefing in my sessions I asked my team to give me some money and then just said how much?? Without asking me why and what for? I then turned to my family and friends and asked for more money and then also just gave whatever they could comfortably and do not ask why? I am sure that they all did this for all the right reasons best known to them and above all they believed in something they wanted too! Therefore, in July 2022 PINE Global Community and friends joined hands to support 25 families in South Balochistan by providing simple amenities basic medicines, and food for children and infants, this was just the beginning, and for us to continue to support as much as we could.

My objective here was not to become a Human God but simply by being human I can contribute more and by being together we could do better!

Now it was Sindh’s turn so this time it was different as I did not ask for anything and in REAL the PINE Community with almost 1800 members from all over the world asked me if I needed money to support families in Sindh and I was like YES let’s celebrate life by raising hands to join them. However, the best part about this community activity as it was funded by my father and by PINE friends and team.

In November 2022 PINE Community and Friends of PINE took the lead and made it REAL and this time on REEL as well. Our road trip to Sindh highlighted the importance of supporting others is also a great way of enjoying and celebrating life and being thankful for everything we have for everything that we do not have.

Our love packages for 18+ families included everything to keep them warm till the next season. I have not claimed that we have contributed outstandingly what is commendable here is that the 15 people who traveled together did not know each other but the only thing had in common was the HOPE to keep doing good and moving forward.

I have to say thank you to my invisible PINE team and friends, family members, and above all the humans of today.

Sincere gratitude to Michelle Curry, Adnan Faisal, Sumbul Saud, Saleem Sheikh, and Masood Ahmed.
