Anwar Maqsood announces upcoming stage play ‘Naya Pakistan’!

After the phenomenal success of the ongoing stage play Naach Na Janay, renowned writer Anwar Maqsood is busy scripting his next project, he announced on Tuesday at a press conference in Arts Council Karachi. His upcoming play will be put on stage on 14th August, on the Independence Day of Pakistan.

The play entitled “Naya Pakistan” will lead the idea of the current scenario going on in the country and how it is influencing the nation, as judged by the writer being a common man. And we’re sure Anwar Maqsood, like his previous masterpieces, is going to do justice with the theme and will surely bring out something more relatable while he sets out to find the answer of fundamental questions of a common man.

Anwar Maqsood said the revenue collected from the play would also be donated for the charity cause as ‘Endowment fund’ for the financially challenged artist who are old and are not getting work anymore.

As reported by Dawn, “the central character of the play Naya Pakistan will be a street vendor who is trying to sell the old Pakistan in the new one. There will also be a character of Allama Iqbal looking for their place in the fresh setup.”

However, Mr Maqsood said that he still has not finalized the word Naya in the play which could be revised.

Speaking about the ongoing play Naach Na Jaanay, he said the project has had an overwhelming response from the general public and the show is going houseful and that’s the reason the council decided to extend the show to a few weeks.

Considering the popularity and success, the team of the play is encouraged to take it internationally and soon it will be presented in UAE, South Africa and the UK, the press conference announced.
