Apple announced the biggest most Bug Bounty Program, a $1 million reward for anyone who hacks an iPhone —it is by far the highest offer by any major tech company, reported Forbes.
For over a dozen years, Apple has provided devices that are certainly the most secured with arguably the best cellular privacy. Now apple has taken this one-of-a-kind step of offering rewards bigger than ever to anyone who can hack an iPhone and found any vulnerability in the device. By anyone it means that the offer is open to all researchers rather than just for the previous company’s invite-only eligibles. Also, Apple said that the program includes tvOS, watchOS macOS as well. This announcement was made by Apple’s head of security engineering Ivan Krstic, in Las Vegas at the Black Hat.
In addition to this $1 million reward, Apple also announced to give a 50 percent bonus to hackers who can identify flaws and weaknesses in the software before it is released to a wider audience—public. Ivan Krstic explained Bug Bounty to be very effective because company can fix the vulnerabilities before it rolls out in the customer’s hand.
Krstic stated Bug Bounty to be a major success with 50 bugs reported since 2016.
