Bollywood actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol only had glowing reviews when he went home from Kartarpur, where he attended the opening ceremony as part of a historic pilgrimage.
“It went really well, people were really nice to us and gave us so much love. This is just the beginning,” Deol told Indian media.
Deol, who is a member of Indian PM Narendra Modi’s BJP, added, “I hope that it stays this way and we can coexist with love and kindness. This is the beginning of peace. A really good thing has been initiated by both sides. I wish with all my heart that it stays like this.”
“What are we going to gain from fighting? May there be love between us.”
Earlier, the BJP MP had said, “If I won’t go, who will? I’ll definitely go. It is my area and my home.”
Sikhs from across the border arrived in Pakistan on Saturday to visit the shrine of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, which is located in Kartarpur, a small town beside the River Ravi in central Punjab, ahead of the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor; the corridor provides visa-free access to religious pilgrims.
