Former Australia spinner Brad Hogg has called for a four-match Pakistan-India Test series.
“Scrap the five-match Test series between hosts Australia and India and have the Ashes series (against England) played there instead,” Hogg said in a video on his own YouTube channel . “But on the flip side, India play against Pakistan in a four-game Test series during the Christmas period.”
The former left-handed spinner added that Pakistan and India get to host two games each.
Hogg, who was part of Australia’s 2003 and 2007 World Cup winning squad, said that the series will pit the likes of Babar Azam and Virat Kohli as well as Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen Shah Afridi against each other. “Then the spinners, Ravi Ashwin versus Yasir Shah, and its all happening in Asian conditions. Let’s have it.”
He went on to say that the two series will be beneficial for the International Cricket Council (ICC) as far as finances are concerned.
Pakistan and India last played a full Test series back in 2007, with India winning the three-match Test series 1-0.
