A 24-year-old African American man named Robert Fuller was found hanging from a tree in Palmdale, California last week.
Despite city officials initially describing Fuller’s death as “an alleged death by suicide,” the outrage from Fuller’s family and others in the community (#BlackLivesMatter activists), has made is clear that a demand for further investigation and an independent autopsy is necessary. Many believe it to have been a racially motivated murder, rather than what the police has deemed it.
Several celebrities have joined in calling for justice for Fuller, including Viola Davis, Kim Kardashian, and Jameela Jamil causing the city of Palmdale to revers its stance and support a full investigation into Fuller’s death. 
“The City of Palmdale is joining the family and the community’s call for justice and we do support a full investigation into his death,” the city said in a statement. This coming from a man, City Manager J.J. Murphy, who quickly labelled this death a suicide in a release issued Thursday. looks like someone realised they messed up.
The Change.or petition calling for further investigation into Fuller’s death currently has more than 205,000 signatures. If interested in supporting his family during this time, people are encouraged to send donations to their GoFundMe.
