Syed Areeb Ahmed was laid to rest at Sakhi Hasan graveyard in Karachi on Monday afternoon. He was one of the nine Pakistanis who lost their lives during shooting at a mosque in Christchurch on March 15
Remains of the 27-year-old Karachi-born chartered accountant was flown to his home town Karachi, via EK-600 last morning, on his parents’ desire.
The only son of his parents, was a chartered account by profession. Areeb had immigrated to New Zealand for work, according to his uncle.
The coffin carrying his remains was received at Karachi by his father Syed Ejaz Ahmed, along with bereaved family and Governor of Sindh Imran Ismail.
It was then directly carried to the residence of the grieving parents located in Federal B Area. A large number joined the funeral prayers of Areeb offered under the guidance of Mufti Abdul Aziz at Sangam Ground, Dastagir off Federal B Area, Karachi.
Representing the citizens of the province and the metropolis, the Sindh Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani, Mayor of Karachi Syed Waseem Akhter as well as senior leaders of MQM, PTI, and PPP were also in attendance at the funeral prayers.
