With the coronavirus turning into an extremely concerning pandemic, there are many who have rushed to offer support to the less fortunate in the form of donations – both monetary and edible.
However, veteran actor Faysal Qureshi has brought to light an issue that tends to get ignored while people are giving out charities.
Taking to Twitter, he posted, “For God’s sake, do not click pictures or make videos during your aid. There are people who are only receiving your help out of helplessness. Don’t turn their vulnerability into a publicity stunt for yourself. Karma is evil.”
Cricketer and fast-bowler Mohammed Amir agrees with him:
“Very true, I pray to God people understand this message, Faisal bhai,” he posted.
Amanat Ali also took to his Instagram to continue the same discourse.

“I don’t understand one thing – when celebrities donate something or do something for the less fortunate, why are they always facing the camera? Religious teachings say when giving a donation, don’t even look the needy in the eye. And here, the entire world is made to watch,” he wrote.
In contrast, Natasha Baig feels it is important for celebrities to do so for the purpose of inspiring others.
We agree with Qureshi that publicising pictures of those struggling is both insensitive and unnecessary; you can encourage people to follow suit without demeaning others in the process.
