Markhor, the national animal of Pakistan has been declared as an endangered species due to its extinction because of hunting and climate factors.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature’s (IUCN) red list for threatened species, an internationally recognized tool for measuring the conservation status of species, puts Markhor in the near threatened category as their number has dwindled to below 10,000.
Keeping in mind the alarming situation, Pakistani celebrity Gohar Rasheed has shared a video creating awareness about the Markhor extinction in collaboration with the ace designers Deepak and Fahad.
As Hum Showcase 2019 is going to held soon, designers Deepak and Fahad have come up with the great idea of raising awareness and highlighting the epidemic regarding endangered animals and have named their collection “Markhor”. It consists of intricate embroideries and prints that can give a unique voice to the voiceless and emphasize on their protection, conservation, and respect.
