There are some things that transcend borders and boundaries, and human empathy is one of them.
Bollywood bigwig Hrithik Roshan offered words of support to a Pakistani student who was advised to leave his studies by a university professor who mocked his stuttering issue during class presentation.
“Please tell your cousin that that professor and his judgement both are irrelevant. Stuttering should never hold him back from dreaming BIG! Tell him it’s NOT his fault and it’s NOT something he needs to be ashamed of. People who shame him are no better than brainless monkeys,” wrote Roshan.
The person who tweeted the incident shared that her cousin, who is currently enrolled in National University of Modern Sciences in Islamabad, is hesitant to take action, and has decided to take a break before resuming his studies.
We’re appalled at the insensitivity and ignorance of the HOD, given his position at a reputable institution. About time teachers realise that their job is to encourage and mentor individuals, not mock and shame them for a disability they have no control over.
We extend all our support to the student and hope that he doesn’t let this act of bullying hinder his journey to success!
