Hailee Steinfeld will portray Emily Dickinson in Apple’s original series, with the name of Dickinson. The series will show Emily Dickinson as a witty hero for millennials. Through her writing she has won many hearts.
The series is written and created by Alena Smith and the executive producer of Dickinson is Hailee Steinfeld herself. Other than Steinfeld, Mother of Emily Dickinson is portrayed by Jane Krakowski who is known for her role in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Other characters such as Toby Huss (Halloween), Ella Hunt (Apocalypse and Anna) and a new face, Adrian Blake.
Seems like Dickinson is the first TV series to ever discuss the life of the poet. Although a film named A Quiet Passion was filmed in 2018 regarding the life of Emily Dickinson.
The first teaser of the series shows Dickinson as the passionate writer who wants freedom to write. She engages her family who are living a very conservative life. She says, “I have one purpose, and that is to become a great writer”.
Her mother, Mrs. Dickinson says, “She’ll be the ruin of this family. And she doesn’t know how to behave like a proper young lady,”
In the millennials era, certainly it was a line of thought that girls should behave like a lady and do not raise their voice at anyone no matter what happens. However, they were supposed to carry themselves in a polite and gracious manner. When a girl was not following this pattern of chivalry, they were frowned upon.
