The previous Karachi city mayor was Mr. Waseem Akhtar who was widely famous in the media and on other various platforms as the mayor who always stated:
“I am a mayor but I have no mayoral powers.”
Or, “We don’t get enough funds”.
However, since the past few years, it has been seen that all the municipal commission workers have been paid full salaries but not even single work has been done to restore, clean, or maintain the city.
A daily trauma and stress which Karachiites face is the lack of proper infrastructure, traffic, sewerage, transportation system, and the list keep going on.
Wasim Akram laments for Karachiites situation a lot. Is Wasim Akram an option Karachiites are willing to nominate for the next mayor election in Karachi.
We have seen over the past few months that soon after the videos go viral on social media platforms regarding waste in Karachi Sea View or other areas in Karachi by Wasim Akram and his wife Shaniera Akram, the authorities start immediate work and cleaning process in those affected areas to prevent excessive wastage and water pollution.
In a video on the social media platform, Wasim Akram showcased piles of garbage, plastic bags, and medical waste including syringes lying around casually. After the nasty mess he witnessed on the beach during his morning walk, the cricketer decided to record this and showcase it to his followers.
On a social media website Twitter, Shaniera Akram said, “I’m sick of this We clean the beach again & again, only to have the city’s garbage dumped in our sea & sewerage lines, which eventually washes up on our shore”.
“I’m not even going to the beach anymore. I’ve had enough. This is an embarrassment to our country. We should be ashamed,” she added.
