After delaying production on “Fantastic Beasts 3” for several months, Warner Bros. announced filming for the third chapter in the “Harry Potter” spinoff series will commence in spring of 2020 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Actors have been notified about the change in dates. The untitled third “Fantastic Beasts” movie has not yet set a release date. “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” was released on Nov. 18, 2016, and “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Gindelwald” came out on Nov. 16, 2018. It’s been assumed that the studio would release the next movie in November, 2020, but the delay in starting production may preclude that from happening.
According to Variety, Warner Bros has now confirmed that filming will commence in the spring of 2020 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The film was slated to start production earlier this year but it was pushed back after the last film, The Crimes of Grindelwald fell short of box office expectations.
The first film, Fantastic Beasts and where to find them was a massive box office hit, raking in $800 million worldwide. While the sequel fell short with just $650 million, speculation was rife about the franchise getting a reboot before moving forward.
