Junoon working on Cricket World Cup anthem

Sufi rock band Junoon is back together, this time for another World Cup anthem.

Junoon will release its first track after a 15-year hiatus, and that too for the upcoming Cricket World Cup, the band announced on Facebook.

Lead vocalist Ali Azmat took to social media to share the news.

“Am proud to share this news with you that Junoon is working together on a track for the first time in 15 years to support the Pakistan Cricket Team! Can’t wait to share the final track and video with you once its released. Sooper hai Pakistan ka Junoon, Sooper hai Pakistan ki team!!,” Azmat posted on Facebook.

The song, the three-member music group said, will support the Pakistan cricket team in the upcoming World Cup. “Me, Ali and Brian have come together for Pakistan’s unity,” Salman Ahmed said in the video message, “We will do our nation proud and Pakistan’s cricket team will raise its head in pride.”

Azmat was also seen in the video along with guitarist Brian Connell. “This song is for people all over Pakistan, and especially those who are marginalised,” Azmat added.

The last time Junoon released a World Cup song, it was the timeless classic Jazba Junoon, back in 1996. Now, 23 years later, the group has come together once again, leaving fans excited.
