A Lahore sessions court dismissed Meera’s petition against a family court’s decision rejecting her plea to declare her nikahnama (marriage document) with businessman Attiqur Rehman fabricated.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Mazhad Hussain upheld the family court’s decision and rejected the claim made by Meera of a ‘fake nikahnama’ to grab her property.

Meera was adamant and denied having any relationship with Rehman and accused him of blackmailing her by claiming to be her husband.

Her plea was rejected in May 2018 and her marriage was declared valid with Rehman. Infact the judge at that time Babar Nadeem said that “The nikhanama is lawfully registered,” the judge said.

This all came to light as a property in DHA Lahore became a focal point of a dispute between the couple and they resorted to criminal and civil litigation against each other for the last 10 years.

Meera claimed that Rehman showcased a fake Nikahnama against her in open court so he could steal her property. Whereas, she claimed that it wasn’t verified by the union council concerned and had asked the court to declare the impugned marriage certificate fake.

Meera married Captain Naveed whilst simultaneously staying in marriage with Rehman which the former husband said was ‘crime.’ As she dint end the marriage contract with him first!
