The stars of the film, Mandy Moore and Shane West, have now reunited 17 years later and all that nostalgia is rushing back.
Mandy Moore has just scored herself a Hollywood Walk of Fame star, and who better to share the moment with than her old buddy Shane West.The pair starred together in the romantic drama A Walk To Remember back in 2002, and have been friends ever since.
Shane gave an absolutely lovely speech for her, and is quoted by ” We couldn’t have been more opposite when we met. I was busy wearing ill-advised clothes and having dubious hair choices and wearing eyeliner in my garage punk band or whatever, whatever that was. And you were killing it on the pop star scene. You had very long beautiful blonde hair at the time.’
The actor continued: ‘I was trying to get you to listen to The Clash or the Ramones. You were not interested but you were very sweet about it, and you stuck to your Fleetwood Mac. Always Fleetwood Mac.
‘And so apparently our director for A Walk to Remember, Adam Shankman, decided, “Hey, yeah, why not let’s put these two together, let’s put the two opposites attract together.” he added: ‘And I’m glad he did.’
He further said “Mandy, you’re an absolute gem. Your smile is ridiculous — seriously, it’s ridiculous; it lights up a room when you walk in. Your energy is irresistible and your heart is second to none.
“I always knew you were incredibly talented and I always knew you were going to go on to do big things and amazing things, and you have… I couldn’t be more proud of you. I couldn’t be more happy for you.”
While Mandy has been open about her experience while filming the movie, including falling in love with her co-star, Shane also admitted to experiencing the same thing.
“Not only was this film a wonderful experience in every way, it also gave me the chance to fall for this fantastic woman,” he said.
It’s good to see their bond is still strong, all these years later.
