O & A level students do not require equivalency certificates: HEC

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Monday informed the Lahore High Court (LHC) that student who had taken their O and A levels were not required to seek an equivalence certificate from Inter-Board Committee Chairman (IBCC) of education boards.

The HEC informed the court about the change of rule during a hearing of a petition challenging the condition of seeking an equivalence certificate from the education board in addition to the attestation of degrees from HEC.

Romana Malik, a student had filed a petition in court. She challenged the requirement to seek an equivalence certificate from the education board, in addition to the attestation of degrees from the HEC.

The counsel for the HEC informed the court that the rule had been changed for the benefit of students and would be applicable across the country.

The petition was dismissed in light of the change in the rule.
