Pakistan fights COVID-19, Partial lock-down in Sindh, Punjab & K-P

Provincial government embarks for a lock down on Thursday to hold the outbreak.

The virus which surfaced  in China’s Hubei province late December 2019, has infected 200,000 people globally with 9000 deaths. The vaccine and medication is still in process but the best way to prevent from the virus is self isolation or quarantine.

The total figure of COVID-19 patients crossed 300 late Wednesday with Punjab confirming a total of 33 cases. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported two COVID-19 deaths within hours.

Lock-down

Sindh government inaugurated the preventive measures, Since the emergence of the first corona virus patient in late February.

Starting with the academic year by preponing summer vacations, gyms, restaurants, social clubs and public gatherings are banned.

“In pursuance of the Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act 2014, the government of Sindh has decided to close the following departments offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporation of these departments under the administrative control of the government of Sindh through the province with effect from March 19 to April 3,” reads the notification issued by the provincial chief secretary.

Meanwhile, in Punjab ,Usman Buzdar led government chose to go digital and for the rest they declared work from home policy.

“Only necessary participants should be invited for meetings,” it added.

Entry of tourists and visitors into recreational spots including tourism in Murree and other places has been suspended while shopping malls will be closed at 10:00pm. Only general stores, pharmacies and factories will remain open.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa face masks and other protective gears are being provided to doctors for their safety.

The timings for government offices have been restricted from 10 am to 4 pm from Mondays to Thursday, and 12 pm on Fridays.

All the meetings including more than five members will be held on conference calls.

Barbers and beauty salons are ordered to be closed for 15 days. All the eateries and restaurants are told to be closed until April 5, though these establishments can operate for home deliveries and take-away. Banks have been directed to install hand sanitizes at ATM’s.
