Pakistan has risen seven points in the world happiness index, indicating improved economic conditions, according to Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin.
He told a press conference in Islamabad that the world happiness index reveals Pakistan has outperformed the rest of the world in terms of GDP, life expectancy, generosity, social safety programmers, and perceptions of corruption. “Our current account deficit has been cut to just 545 million dollars, down from nearly 20 billion dollars before we came into office,” he was quoted as saying by Radio Pakistan.
He stated that the country’s imports are declining, while exports, especially services exports, have climbed significantly, as well as large-scale manufacturing, which has grown at an annual rate of 8.2 percent.
He expressed the optimism that the country’s total growth rate will be higher than five percent by the end of the current fiscal year.
Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin previously provided a cost of living index, showcasing Pakistan’s low cost of living among 139 countries worldwide.
Shaukat Tarin took to Twitter to present a cost of living index graph that showed Pakistan as the least expensive country, ranking bottom out of 139 countries analysed for their living costs.
In Pakistan, a four-member family would require Rs171,783 for their living expenses (excluding rent), which is 71.52 percent less than what a family would require in the United States.
