“Our job is like that of soldiers. There is no space for any fear when you are committed to work”, says the first Pakistani space scientist from Balochistan, Dr. Yarjan Abdul Samad.
Dr. Samad belongs to a small town in Balochistan known as Kech region. He received his early education at an Urdu medium school in Karachi’s Lyari area.
Despite living a difficult life, he went on to graduate from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI). There he achieved 2 gold medals and in 2009, the university nominated him for the Pakistan Engineering Council, Best Graduate Engineer of the Year award.
Now, this young man works at the Cambridge Graphene Center, Engineering Dept. at the University of Cambridge, which is run by the European Space Agency and other research institutions.
As per reports, he is making efforts along with his team to make devices used in the space that function without any energy and electricity. Pakistan lags behind when it comes to space and technology thus, these efforts are of great value for the country.
This is a proud moment for Pakistan, as Dr. Samad represents his country at the international platform. Pakistan really needs such young talents to rise and work for the prosperity of their country.
