Pakistan’s evergreen drama is all set to air in Saudi Arabia

The iconic 1987 Pakistani drama Dhoop Kinare is all set to air in KSA, Saudi Arabia.

PTV’s Director for International Relations, Shazia Sikander, said this will be the first time Pakistan television will be dubbing local television content for Saudi viewers.

“The information ministry will send it to Saudi Arabia through our foreign office,” Sikander told on Thursday. “We are also contacting different media houses in the Kingdom, in case they are interested in exchange of dramas or buying our dubbed content.”

She said it will not only bring international recognition towards local productions, but also help Saudi nationals understand Pakistani culture better.

It follows former information minister Fawad Chaudhry’s visit to the Saudi capital last year wherein he had announced Islamabad’s plans to exports its television series to the Kingdom soon.

Saudi information minister, Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad “was very kind and promised to support my initiative of broadening the cultural relationship between the two brotherly Muslim countries,” said Chaudhry, who revealed that he had initially suggested the idea for such a cultural exchange.

“[The finished product] will soon be given probably to Saudi Arabia and the UAE [to air on] their television channels,” added Sikander.

The plan was initiated three years ago alongside Tanhaaiyan and Aahat, but could not be completed due to non-availability of remaining funds.
