PHC bars PTA from blocking unregistered mobile phones

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) restrained the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) from blocking non-registered cellphones.

The directives were issued on Tuesday as the court heard a petition filed by the mobile phone deals regarding the matter; PTA was directed not to block non-registered phones for another three months.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) decision to block unregistered mobile phones was earlier challenged in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) which had directed Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to resolve the issue with the help of mobile telecommunication companies.
