Power outage hits Karachi shortly after heavy rain

Heavy rain lashed several areas of Karachi on Friday evening providing a much-needed respite for the citizens after heatwave.

Areas that experienced rain included Shahrah-e-Faisal, Malir, F.B. Area, Nazimabad, I.I. Chundrigar Road, and Safoora Goth, among others.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) warned people that the flooding system was likely to continue for at least another one to two hours.

The PMD noted that strong winds were arising from the north-west at a speed of 64 kilometres per hour.

Shortly thereafter, a power outage hit numerous areas of the metropolis.

In this regard, a spokesperson for the K-Electric acknowledged that there was a power outage in some areas due to the rain.

“Work to resume the power supply in the affected areas is ongoing. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to the users.
