After a lot of complaints from different segments of society regarding the content being showcased and produced. Apparently, the content is labeled as unlawful online content that is not only offensive but also indecent.
Keeping in mind, majority of the tiktok users are under 18 and such a type of content for kids is objectionable.
Pakistan telecommunication authority(PTA) took a notice on such a content and gave considerable time to the tiktok authorities to work on a solution that doesn’t promote unlawful content on the app.
When the application failed to observe the given instructions, PTA then issued on a final notice On 9th October 2020, to ban the app.
The Pakistan telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Monday held a meeting with Chinese owned application tiktok’s senior management, a virtual meeting where both the authorities discussed on reopening of the application if serious steps will be taken to not post the unlawful content and promote such kind of videos online.
Another point was discussed as to how a moderate and decent content can be promoted through the app.
The Chairman PTA asked TikTok’s management to come up with a positive timeline on when the actions can be taken. Until then tiktok stays banned in Pakistan.
