Queen Maxima of the Netherlands will arrive to Pakistan on November 25 for a three-day visit as the special advocate to the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development.
The Dutch royal will discuss the progress of financial services to improve the economic situation of Pakistan, a statement from the Pakistan Embassy of the Netherlands said.
Queen Maxima will also attend the launch of the ‘Micro Payment Gateway’, which the FO described as “an initiative of the State Bank of Pakistan aimed at reducing the costs of small payments and boosting digital transactions to benefit people and promote financial inclusion”.
The statement added that inclusive finance for development is one of the “key priorities” of the government and the country has taken a number of steps in recent years to promote financial inclusion.
The visit will be a follow up to her 2016 visit on behalf of the UN. She will be visiting Pakistan at the invitation of the government.
During her stay, the Dutch royalty will also hold talks with international development partners, representatives from the fintech sector, State Bank Governor Reza Baqir, Adviser to the Prime Minister on FInance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and Nadra Chairman Usman Mubin.
She is also expected to call on President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan.
