Singer Shamoon Ismail recently posted a rather offensive tweet with regards to where the coronavirus started. He has been getting bashed for it by many twitter users.
His comments on the post portrayed him as a racist to many people. Although the tweet has been deleted, twitter users demanded an apology from him, which was promptly delivered.
However people seem to think that the apology was half-hearted or not good enough, to which he responded rather harshly.
Granted his point is rather fair, as our social media police seems to think that it is okay to disrespect someone to demand an apology for disrespecting someone. Two negatives don’t make a positive, as they say.
Shamoon is not the first celebrity to come under fire in regards to COVID-19. Many other celebrities made statements that have angered the people of Pakistan. But the question here is, does this not fall under free speech?
If every keyboard warrior was a criminal, our jails would probably be overflowing. Our generation needs to understand the difference between getting offended and being dramatic.
