‘The darkest day in history of music’

The entire world is mourning! Lata Mangeshkar’s death has left everyone frozen in their steps! The veteran singer was being treated for Covid-19 and pneumonia symptoms for over a month & now she is no more. Today she met legendary singers such as Nusrat Fatah Ali Khan.

Lata Mangeshkar belonged to a musical family. Her father was a well-known Marathi musician and theatre artiste. He tutored & trained her. She has made great contributions in the film & music industry. Lata was a ‘’nightingale of India”. The void she has left can’t be fulfilled. Upcoming generations will for sure remember her and be mesmerised by her voice!

She was only 13 when her father passed away and that pushed her to be the breadwinner of the family. the family eventually moved to Mumbai in 1945. There she pursued a career as a playback singer, recording tracks to be mimed by actors, and her high-pitched voice soon became a staple of Bollywood blockbusters.

Lata sang in more than 1000 films and nearly 27,000 of her songs were converted in languages such English, Russian, Dutch and Swahili.

May the legend rest in peace!
