The new trend of having minimalistic weddings is now taking over. The obsession of having grand luxury weddings is now minimising. Personally, I have never been a huge fan of big fat weddings.
Spending millions on a 2 day event sounds absurd, doesn’t it?
Imagine spending the same amount on vacations instead. Why not spend the money on your honeymoon rather than on events that won’t even last for a whole day? Just 4 hours max.
Another wedding trend is also taking over. Having one joint event instead of two separate ones such as, “Shalima” which is Baraat and Walima or “Shendi” which is Baraat and Mehndi.
This does not only save money, but it also saves a lot of time, travel, effort and honestly in my opinion, gives one more mental peace.
When I was planning my sister’s wedding the first thing she told me was that she wants to do her Nikkah at home. Which obviously meant that the number of guests will also needs to be minimised. Now THAT was a problem for our desi parents. “Baaki rishtedaar bura maan jaingay.”
Took us a week to convince them and tell them that it is OKAY to invite immediate family to such intimate events. People will slowly but surely understand.
Well, this is just my opinion. Not everyone might agree to this and that’s okay. I always believed that “less is more.”
