Former skipper of Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) special committee has spoken against changing the captain of the national cricket team, stating now is not the time for a change.
“Speaking about the captain from series to series does not send a good message. There is no common sense in these type of statements,” Akram said.
Wasim Akram said the special committee if asked would also endorse keeping Sarfaraz Ahmed on as the captain.
Akram also spoke on PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani who made a statement criticising the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) decision to suspend Sarfaraz Ahmed, saying the governing body’s “bureaucratic process overrule common sense”.
“Ehsan Mani is new and will need time to understand the situation,” Akram said.
Former batting legend Zaheer Abbas said the ICC must have given thought prior to giving the decision suspending Sarfaraz.
Earlier this week, Wasim Akram put his weight behind Sarfaraz Ahmed to lead Pakistan till the 2019 World Cup.
