Princess Diana wished for Prince William to succeed Queen Elizabeth as King. During her shocking interview with Martin Bashir two years before her death, she revealed her desire for William to succeed her grandmother on the queen. “Would it be your wish, when Prince William comes of age, that he succeed the Queen rather than the current Prince of Wales?” Bashir questioned her during the interview.
“My wish is for my husband to achieve peace of mind, and from there, other things, sure,” Diana replied.
“I wonder if her forecast will end up being correct?” asked Richard Eden, a royal expert and TV show host, in response to Diana’s response.
Eden made his remarks after Scotland Yard announced that it had opened an inquiry into a cash-for-honors controversy involving Prince Charles’ charity foundation.
The Prince of Wales was not questioned as part of the foundation’s internal investigation into the incident, despite his denial of any knowledge of the affair.
