What’s Good for the Nation, But Not the Opposition?

The Information Minister, Shibli Faraz on Wednesday restated the government’s resolution to continue its onslaught on the “mafia”, while reprimanding the opposition, attempting to spread anarchy and desolation.

Faraz was addressing a media session here to outline the performance of several ministries since PTI came into power two years ago. He was flanked by Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed, Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda, and Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry, amongst others. Faraz said it is the “democratic duty of the government” to share with the public, its performance after two years.

The Information Minister bemoaned the “fifth generation warfare” by opposition members, which aims to disperse confusion and gloom in the country. He said that the Prime Minister had sworn not to spare the “mafia” when he took control and that they will see no leniency.

“While there is good news for the country all around, the opposition can only expect bad news,” he said.

Minister for Communications Murad Saeed stated that the Postal Services’ revenue went from Rs10 billion to Rs18 billion during the PTI tenure, the National Highway Authority’s revenue increased from Rs53 billion to Rs103 billion and the motorway police’s response time has reduced from seven to two minutes.

Federal Minister of Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry stated that “the ministers sitting here and laying out details are not stained with corruption”.

“Imran Khan brought an end to corruption,” said the FM Chaudhry, adding that neither does the Prime Minister participate in corruption nor does he allow it and the PTI government placed a greater emphasis on the technology ministry hence the country will now be exporting ventilators.

“At this time, we are manufacturing 250 ventilators,” said FM Chaudhry, adding that the manufacturing of a dialysis machine is in the cards sometime soon and that the government will also be providing the latest technology to agricultural farms.

Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination, Dr Fehmida Mirza, states that the government summoned a Council of Common Interests session within its first month, and that it will soon have its own secretariat.

Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda stated that the government is preparing to build 112 small dams, adding that the Diamer-Bhasha dam will alter the economic landscape of the country.

Federal Minister of Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi stated that the prime minister has approved a marine service company and stellar modifications will be introduced at Karachi’s port Qasim.

He said, discussing the newly announced Blue Economy plan, that it has an international worth of $23 trillion.

The minister claimed that fish processing plants are to be installed and under the Kamyab Jawan programme loans are to be allocated to fishermen.
